Kathleen Gaughan

Assistant Federal Defender

Kathleen Gaughan joined the Federal Community Defender Office in September 2012 as an Assistant Federal Defender in the Trial Unit. In addition to her trial work, Ms. Gaughan handles all Federal Defender cases that are accepted into the Mental Health Court overseen by United States Magistrate Judge Elizabeth Hey. Ms. Gaughan is a graduate of West Virginia University and obtained her J.D. at Suffolk Law School in Boston, Massachusetts. She was an AssistantDefender with the Defender Association of Philadelphia from 1988 until 2012. Ms. Gaughan is admitted to practice law in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
